Beta-alanine may supports muscular endurance, delay muscle fatigue, increase exercise capacity, etc.
Beta-Alanine is a non-essential amino acid. The natural dietary sources are some dipeptides (carnosine, anserine and balenine) which are commonly found in protein rich foods such as chicken, beef, pork and fish. Our body can also synthesize beta-alanine in the liver. Beta-Alanine is used by muscle cell to synthesize carosine. Carnosine is the a dipeptide of beta-alanine and histidine that functions as a buffer for the hydrogen ions (acids, such lactic acid) produced during exercise, thus helping to maintain optimum muscular pH value. Clinical studies suggest that beta-alanine supplementation can increase muscle carnosine content and delay muscle fatigue
Note: Some people may have prickling sensation (called paraesthesia) in 15-20 minutes after ingesting beta-alanine, and usually continues for 1-1.5 hours. This is caused by beta-alanine binding to nerve receptors below the skin, activating them and causing them to discharge/fire. This sensation often subsides over a few weeks of continued use. Discontinue use if you do not feel comfortable after taking it.
